About Corey

Corey Edwards is in his fourth year as a staff member of the Herbst Academic Center, officially joining the department in August, 2010. He currently works with the track & field and cross country teams as their Academic Coordinator while also serving as the Director of Tutoring for the department.

Prior to his arrival at CU, Edwards was the Director of Athletic Events and Operations at the University of Northern Colorado where he helped that department successfully transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. Following his job at UNC, Corey interned at Kroenke Sports Enterprises with the Colorado Rapids in their Marketing and Event Operations departments.

From 2003-05, Edwards was the head girls basketball coach at Greeley West High School where he guided the team to a state runner-up finish in 2005. He possesses a wide range of experiences in sport, recreation, and athletics including coaching, health club management, community recreation, sponsorship, marketing, event management, facility operations, media relations, and academics.

A native of Texas, Corey attended Sweetwater High School where he lettered in basketball and track & field. He continued his basketball career collegiately in the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference for Abilene Christian University. Edwards earned both of his degrees from the University of Northern Colorado, a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and masters in sport administration.  He is currently pursuing another masters degree in Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICTD) at the University of Colorado’s ATLAS Institute.

Corey enjoys mountain biking, camping, tennis, audio books, and technology feeds. He and his wife Tabitha have three daughters, Kailey, Kori, and Koco.
